Charter Fishing Trips
Moreton Bay and the outer reefs have some wonderful fishing, ranging from exciting game fishing to chasing pearl perch and snapper. A number of charter boats operate out of the Newport Waters Marina.

A great place to visit is the Australia Zoo which is just over 30 minutes away. See crocodiles being fed, feed kangaroos and get close to many Australian and overseas animals. This is a must see venue where you could easily spend a full day.

The Gold Coast
Just over 1 hour to the south lies the Gold Coast, stretching from Surfers Paradise to the northern New South Wales coast. Attractions on the Gold Coast include Dreamworld, Movieworld, Seaworld and the Currumbin Bird Sanctuary.

For those with 4WD vehicles, Moreton Island is an experience that rivals Fraser Island to the north for its natural beauty. Visit Cape Moreton Lighthouse and drive down the thirty or so miles along eastern beach and have a picnic at beautiful North Point. Accommodation on the island can be arranged, and for those without vehicles, tours are available.

The Sunshine Coast
Under 1 hour to the north lies the Sunshine Coast, stretching from Caloundra to Noosa Heads. Visit UnderWater World at Mooloolaba and watch the sharks and rays from the underwater tunnel. For lovers of tropical fruit, the Big Pineapple and the Buderim Ginger Factory are well worth a visit.

Located 30 km southeast of Brisbane, South and North Stradbroke Islands and the historic settlements at Dunwich and Amity Point have become day tripper locations for Brisbane people wanting to escape from the city. The island is accessible by regular ferry services.
